Segway is the world’s number one electric scooter company. They’ve made self-balancing scooters, two of the world’s most popular commuter scooters, and they’ve even made a couple hundred pound super-scooters, the GT1 and GT2. But for some reason, Segway Ninebot has never made an off-road scooter. Until now.
The brand new Segway ZT3 Pro is the first time we get an off-road scooter with the reliability of a Segway. It’s got a single rear motor that puts out 650 Watts of nominal power and 1600 Watts of peak power in boost mode, so if you’re not careful, this scooter will pop a wheelie.
It’s got full suspension with a motorcycle-style front fork and a monoshock in the back. Plus, the ZT3 has big 11-inch hybrid off-road tires. So you’ve got everything you need to go riding in the dirt. And, it’s got a bigger battery and more top speed than the Segway Max G2.
Before you get too excited, let me tell you what the ZT3 Pro is not. This is not a successor to the GT1 or GT2. With a top speed of 24.7 miles per hour and a pre-order price of $949, you might think of it instead as a slightly faster off-road version of the Max G2.But the ZT3 also has a ton of new features, and its performance tests blew us away. In boost mode, the Segway ZT3 Pro has the fastest acceleration and hill climbing speeds we’ve tested on a single motor electric scooter.
The Segway Ninebot ZT3 Pro has a little more speed, and just as much reliability, as the Segway Ninebot Max G2. For roughly the same price, it adds the functionality of a good off-road scooter for hitting trails on the weekend or the commute.
It’s also got some of the best engineering we’ve seen on an under-$1,000 electric scooter and its power gives it the utility of a dual motor scooter without the added cost.
If this sounds like it might be for you, read on to learn more about the features, specs, and performance of this latest electric scooter from Segway.
